SAM Broadcaster includes the Firebird database system to manage the tracks but one of the other database options which can be used is MySQL. Firebird is a great starting solution for DJs with up to 10,000 tracks but for customers with more than 10,000 tracks, we would recommend moving to one of the other database options. As with any software, occasionally, you might experience issues with the database. If SAM Broadcaster appears to hang when starting, or fails to load then this can be an indication of a database issue. Not all database issues are the same but here are some suggested remedies to resolve the most common problems:
Unable to Connect to Database
This error message usually relates to a problem with the database and you should ensure the MySQL database service is running. To do this, press the Windows key and R together to bring up the Run box, enter 'services.msc' in the Run box and click OK.
You should ensure the MySQL service is running and if not, double-click the service, ensure the startup type is set to Automatic and click Start.
Database Not Running
This error message usually relates to a problem with the database and you should ensure the MySQL database service is running. To do this, press the Windows key and R together to bring up the Run box, enter 'services.msc' in the Run box and click OK.
You should ensure the MySQL service is running and if not, double-click the service, ensure the startup type is set to Automatic and click Start.
Database Repair
Whilst there are a number of MySQL database repair instructions available, most of them require sufficient knowledge of MySQL. We would recommend that you consider downloading and installing HeidiSQL which is a great MySQL database tool and which from experience has always been able to resolve a database table issue for any customer we have recommended this to. Unfortunately as both MySQL and HeidiSQL are third-party applications, we are unable to provide detailed assistance however, instructions on how to use it are available from the website.
